Beneath the magnificent curved glass roof of the world famous British Museum, Court Restaurant is set amidst the refined surroundings of academic Bloomsbury. Above the magnificent court, diners can enjoy a lofty view of the original Reading Room whilst partaking in a selection of international dishes with some appropriately British undertones. Special complementary menus are often planned at Court Restaurant to coincide with current exhibitions. The classical columns and striking glass ceiling designed by Norman Foster provide the perfect setting for traditional afternoon tea. The menu features a selection of classic favourites, along with a unique Viennese-style special. Sumptuous and elegant, afternoon tea is served with freshly made sandwiches and fruit scones with organic strawberry jam and clotted cream. There is also a range of exquisite pastries by Demel, the Austrian chocolatier. Afternoon tea at The Court Restaurant can be enjoyed with a glass of Champagne or a decadent exhibition cocktail.

Top quality cuisine from around the world with friendly, attentive service in a unique venue that overlooks the Museum's historic Reading Room. With capacity for 180, starters include combinations such as spicy red snapper skewer with glass noodle salad and a smoked Banbury duck hazelnut, celery and apple salad. Among the main courses are coq au vin and mini garlic baguette; butternut squash and saffron risotto; and chestnut, celery and blue cheese tart with Cajun potatoes. Desserts include favourites such as chocolate mocha tart and lemon tart and the English cheese Waterloo, an English brie served with plum chutney and biscuits. Afternoon tea (3 to 5:30pm) is yet another reason for visiting this restaurant where all cakes and desserts are hand made on the premises.
